 Joseph Battista (1918-68)

American pianist whose performances included music from Latin America and Spain; former Faculty (Piano).

His recording of Heitor Villa-Lobos’s 16 Cirandas, originally from 1953, was rereleased in a three-LP set from the 1960s entirely devoted to the Brazilian composer and that also featured pianist Menahem Pressler’s interpretation of Bachianas brasileiras No. 4 (Hollywood, Calif.: MGM 7003-3).
