Juan Carlos Arango

Juan Carlos Arango

Born in Colombia, he is a dulcian and shawm player. He received his degree in oboe with Vaclav Vinecky at the University of Brasilia, Brazil. He graduated in Dulcian with Michael McCraw at Indiana University's
Early Music Institute.

Professionally he has played with early music ensembles such as Musica Ficta and Fénix de los Ingenios as well as performed in many international festivals such as The Education Office at the Embassy of Spain, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (2003); Amherst Early Music Festival 2003. La Púrpura de la Rosa, opera directed by Andrew Lawrence-King, Storrs Connecticut-US (2003); The Bloomington Early Music Festival 2002 “King Arthur”, opera directed by Stanley Ritchie, Bloomington, Indiana-US (2002); Singapore Festival of Arts (2001); JakArts Festival, Jakarta (2001); II Festival de Musica Antigua y Religiosa de Bogotá (2001); Festival de Música Antigua y Barroca "Los Fundadores," San Luis Potosí, Mexico (2000); Corcoran Gallery, Washington D.C. (2000); Mexican Cultural Institute, Washington, D.C. (2000); II Latin-American Baroque Music Festival of Chiquitos, Bolivia (1998); Cleveland Museum of Art - Cleveland (1998); Boston College Concert Series - Boston, USA (1998); Inter-American Development Bank (IDB); Washington DC (1998); X Festivale "Il Canto delle Pietre" (1998) Italy. He participated as a faculty member in The Third Annual Magdalena Early Music Workshop, New Mexico (January, 2004).

He has acted as the coordinator for woodwinds instruments for the Plan Nacional de Bandas, project of the Ministry of Culture in Colombia.
