- LATIN GRAMMY-NOMINEE JORGE GOMEZ PERFORMS WITH THE LATIN AMERICAN POPULAR MUSIC ENSEMBLE

The Latin American Popular Music Ensemble will perform in Auer Hall on April 10, 2008 at 8:00 p.m with special guest Jorge Gomez, the much acclaimed salsa, timba and Latin jazz pianist normally performing around the world with his group Tiempo Libre, "...the top timba group in the United States," according to The Denver Post. They will also be joined by faculty bassist Jeremy Allen. In this concert, Gomez will perform with LAPME, as part of his residency with the group, coaching them on the featured styles. The program will include Gomez' own compositions, along with other numbers in the most beloved Latin genres, including Merengue, Tango Nuevo, Rumba, and more, by composers Pablo Ziegler, Elvis Crespo, Eddy Herrera , Justin Elie, Luiz Bonfá, and Leo Brouwer
