2004 NEW MUSIC MIAMI ISCM FESTIVAL
APRIL 8, 9, 10, 2004
WOLFSONIAN - FIU, MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA

Orlando Jacinto Garcia, Director

Festival Schedule

The 2004 New Music Miami ISCM Festival will include some 20 renowned
composers
participating in the 3 day event being held April 8, 9, and
10, 2004 at the Wolfsonian - FIU located at 1001 Washington Avenue on
Miami Beach .  Presented by the FIU School of Music, the focus of the
festival is new solo and chamber music for winds.  The ISCM designation
in the festival title is a result of FIU's association with the
International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM); an organization
dedicated to the dissemination of contemporary classical music
throughout the world.  Five concerts are being presented over the 3 days
as well as pre-concert Meet the Composers panel sessions before each
concert, in which the composers whose works are being performed will
discuss issues of relevance to their music.  All pre-concert panel
sessions and concerts are free and open to the public.  A list of
composers invited to participate in the festival is included below.

The performers for the festival are all internationally renowned artists
including FIU faculty artists clarinetist Paul Green, percussionist
Michael Launius, saxophonist Roby George, and trombonist Mark Hetzler,
Italian flautist Andrea Ceccomori and clarinetist Guido Arbonelli,
Mexican guitarist Jaime Marquez, Dutch bass clarinetist Henri Bok,
Spanish clarinetist Joan Pere Gil, New York based clarinetist Esther
Lamneck and flutist Linda Wetherill, shakuhashi master Dale Olsen, and
the internationally renowned Barton Workshop chamber ensemble from
Holland.  The 2004 New Music Miami ISCM Festival will be one of the most
