LAMC-L: Academic Discussion of Latin American Music
LAMC-L is an email discussion list and file server for the Latin American Music Center at the School of Music, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. This list is intended to provide you with an avenue for exchanging news about work-in-progress; questions of general interest about Latin American music; announcements of conferences, festivals, concerts, recordings, etc.; but especially we want to provide a environment for serious discussion on issues pertaining to music in Latin America.
A few recommendations for subscribers to the list:
1. Please give each posting a clear subject line. This helps other subscribers decide whether or not to read a message.
2. To send a message to all subscribers, use your normal e-mail utility and send the message to LAMC-L@LISTSERV.INDIANA.EDU In this case, your message is distributed to everyone on the list.
3. To retrieve a list of available files, send the single-line command GET LAMC-L FILELIST to: LISTSERV@LISTSERV.INDIANA.EDU
Remember, any commands pertaining to the list (such as getting files, reviewing the names of subscribers, and so on) must be sent to LISTSERV, not LAMC-L. Do not send commands to LAMC-L@LISTSERV.INDIANA.EDU, if you do so, everyone in the list will get your command as a message, and your request will not be processed
4. Feel free to send messages in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.
5. The message with the subject "You have been added to the LAMC-L list" (which you will receive after subscribing) contains very useful information about the use of LISTSERV commands. We strongly recommend that you save that message. Spanish and Portuguese translations of this message can be obtained from LISTSERV. The procedure follows.
To obtain Spanish translation:
- send a message to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.INDIANA.EDU
- leave the SUBJECT line blank
- in the body text type: GET GUIA ESP LAMC-L
To obtain Portuguese translation:
- send a message to LISTSERV@LISTSERV.INDIANA.EDU
- leave the SUBJECT line blank
- in the body text type: GET GUIA PORT LAMC-L
