Notice warning concerning
copyright restrictions

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.

Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research".If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

This institution reserves the right to refuse a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.

NOTE: THE ACQUISITION OF PHOTOCOPIES OF SCORES IN OUR HOLDINGS FOR PERUSAL ONLY DOES NOT AUTHORIZE THE PATRON TO A PERFORMANCE OF THE WORKS. The LAMC is not responsible for the unauthorized use of photocopied materials. If a performance is in the interest of the patron, the patron should contact the composer, or his or her estate for this purpose.

Perusal copies need not be returned.

Customized catalogs, database searches and mailing lists

The LAMC's database can produce customized catalogs of scores and/or recordings of works according to genre, instrumentation, date of composition, composer, country, performers featured, and other variables. The LAMC can also produce contact sheets of composers and performance institutions in Latin America, as well as consultation lists for repertoire at large. For single-CATEGORY search printouts (i.e. works for solo instrument or for small ensembles) there is a US$15.00 fee for up to 10 pages. For additional pages, the same principles applied to the copies of scores for perusal, etc. described above will apply. Prices for multiple searches, massive data printouts and mailing lists vary according to the amount of research and materials required. The LAMC can provide an estimate upon request.
