Thomas Wood, serving as the Interim Curator of Organs, received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Jacobs School of Music as an organ performance major. After working for an organ company, he joined the staff of the Jacobs School of Music in 1970 where he served as the school’s Electronic Engineer and Curator of Organs. Besides these functions he developed the original curriculum for C505,
was instrumental in the design of the Audio Recording Technology program, and expanded the Electronic Music curriculum. In 1980 the lure of pipe organ building and design became Tom’s greatest interest and along with John Goulding, he formed Goulding
& Wood Incorporated. He retired from active participation in the company in
2003. In 2006 he was asked by the School to serve as Interim Curator. Thus adhering to the old saying, “what goes around comes around” he finds himself wandering the 3rd floor of the Music
Annex as he did thirty-five years ago.
