FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The Piano Academy offers two forms of financial assistance: need-based financial aid and merit-based financial aid. Qualifying students may apply for both types of assistance. Awards are generally about 10 to 30% of total fees and will not exceed 50%.

Need based financial aid:

  • To be eligible to apply for a partial scholarship based on financial need, you must be an American citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  • Financial aid is awarded to families who have a total family income under $50,000 per year for summer programs.
  • Students applying for need-based financial aid must complete all parts of the Financial Aid Application Form (download from the left menu) and submit it with the $10.00 processing fee.
  • The student's parents must also attach a copy of their most recent IRS 1040 or 1040A income tax form, with copies of W2 forms attached.

Send all application materials for need-based financial aid to:

MERIT-BASED AID

Any prospective Academy student may apply for a partial scholarship based on artistic merit. Applications for merit-based aid will be accepted until April 24, 2009 .

To apply for merit-based financial aid:

Students applying for merit-based aid should send an e-mail or letter to Dr. Taylor requesting financial assistance based on artistic merit and address the following points:

  • List any musical honors and/or special achievements. Include competitions, but don't limit yourself to these. Tell us about anything significant you have accomplished in music.
  • List all prizes and scholarships received from educational or musical organizations during the past 2 years. Include who gave the award, when it was awarded, and the amount received.
  • Have you received or do you plan to apply for any awards, scholarships, or prizes that are specifically for summer music study, either at the Piano Academy or elsewhere? If so, list the source of the funding and the amount received or applied for. If a decision on your application for an award or stipend from an outside (non-Piano Academy) source of funding is still pending, please note that.
  • Without a scholarship, can you still attend the Piano Academy? If not, please tell us why not.
  • Anything else that you would like us to take into consideration?
