Who? It is open to all middle school band students
in the area regardless of skill level*.
What?
The Indiana University Young Winds program is designed to supplement the
middle school band experience of Bloomington area instrumentalists.
Where? The
program takes place on the campus of Indiana University at the Musical Arts
Center.
When? The
program takes place from January to April on Saturday mornings from 9:00 A.M.
to 11:00 A.M.
The instruments included in this program are as follows: Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet (all
types), Saxophone (all types), French Horn, Trumpet, Baritone Horn/Euphonium,
Trombone, Tuba, and Percussion. There will be teachers involved in this
program who are experts on each of these instruments.
The students will most likely be separated into two ensembles, a beginner band and an advanced band. Each ensemble will perform several full band pieces as well as a section feature on the last day of the program. *Although students who are younger than middle school age are permitted to enroll, the Young Winds program does not start students on instruments
