MINUTES FOR MARCH 1

1)    Dave briefly checked with Soo and Karel about the E-mail

situation.  The e-mail stations will be installed shortly according to

the Bill Wang.

2)    Maria Talbert met to discuss advertising of concerts.  Ideas

suggested include:

-more posters throughout community:  churches, dorms, schools

-prepackaged bulletin boards for the dorms advertising music events.

-refreshments in the lobby during the concerts

-student group discounts specifically aimed more for fraternities

and sororities on campus in addition to cultural groups

-making concerts more of a dorm floor section to be organized and

headed by the RA's

-sending letters to the grad student RHS supervisors in order to

spread word of concerts to RAs and dorms

-pre-concert talks, modeling the Honors College by having certain

classes come to concerts dealing with a specific literary subject.  this

would include any department including the foreign language (ex: French

music on the program)

3)    Late Night at the IMU:  need 12-15 people to work from 9PM-2AM on

Friday, March 30, in order to earn $250 for our SRC funds.  This idea

was turned down to due lack of workers and long hours during the

evening.

4)    Orla briefly mentioned that the Dean search was going extremely

well, that they were still reviewing files, and that IU would bring in

candidates at the end of the semester.

5)    Matt Lewis spoke about letting IUSA representatives take part in

our SRC meeting in order to provide them with information about our

school and activities. Soo talked about the possibility of IUSA funds

helping to bring in a big-name artist.  In order to be included in the

IUSA funding, the SRC should be registered with the

SOA.

6)    Meeting concluded with Interim Dean Gwyn Richards confirming his

running for the position of dean and stating that the music school will

end in the black this year.  He talked about the opening of 6-8 position

and the Auer Hall organ update (should be completed by July '01).  Many

more questions were asked as students left for classes.
