MINUTES FOR MARCH 29
1)
Orla discussed an end of the year BBQ to take place on the Friday
of "Dead Week" on April 27. RPS Dining Services would provide the
food.
This would allow music students to do something collectively
as a whole
in addition to seeing what the SRC accomplished throughout
the year.
The Dean has approved of this event and requested an
estimated budget
from the SRC.
We discussed the estimated number of people who would
attend (500-800) and how advertising for this event should
be done.
Location of the BBQ was also discussed: either behind the
MAC or at the
corner of 3rd & Jordan by the Music Library.
2)
Lauren talked about the mentoring program and said the idea was
given approval by Dr. Potter. Her intentions are to start on a
small-scale with approximately 2-3 participating departments
and then if
this program prooves successful, to expand it to other
departments
within the music school. The organ department will establish its own
mentoring program next year but will also join with this new
program as
well that is being formed. Lauren mentioned that she will work on a
list of expectations for the mentors and also raised the
question: who
will take on this program next year and in the future years?
3)
Recruiting SRC representatives:
next week there will be a table
from 11-2PM in Clouse's where students can vote for
representatives.
According to By-laws, every position must be voted for each
year.
4)
Soo brought up his concern about not being able to get access to
list of piano undergrad students and who he should see.
Meeting ended at 1:00PM
