Spring 2008 Mock Styles Exam

The Graduate Theory Association sponsors a mock styles exam to help doctoral students in the IU Jacobs School of Music prepare for the doctoral styles exam. The mock exam is not affiliated with the Graduate Office, which actually administers the styles exam. Details about the real exam and registration for that exam can be found at the Graduate Office’s web site here.

This spring semester, the mock styles exam will be offered twice:

• Saturday, January 19 , MC36, 10:00am-12:00pm
• Wednesday, January 23, MC 036, 6:30-8:30pm

Admission is $5.00.  If you choose to take Saturday's mock styles exam, you may take Wednesday's as well—at no additional cost (a different test will be given each time).

The IU Music Theory/Musicology Department Office maintains a list of graduate students who are willing to work as tutors for various undergraduate and graduate courses, and some tutors may be willing to help students prepare for the styles exam. (Rates are set by individual tutors.) The list of tutors is available here.
