Course Information

July 21-27, 2008

Evelyne Brancart, director

In 10 sessions, Evelyne Brancart will share her concept of playing the piano through all the different aspects of Technique-Kinesthetic, Physical, Mental, Aural and Tactile.

 
Subjects will include:

  • Shoulder, upper arm, elbow and wrist
  • Building a hand position
  • The thumb
  • Alignment
  • Finger’s attack
  • Finger’s release
  • Shift
  • Pivotation
  • Rotation
  • Fingering
  • Practicing
  • Pedaling
  • Memorization

Each subject will be explored to demonstrate the most effective positions, movements and use in relation to sound and motion on the keyboard.  The last 2 days of the seminar (4 sessions) will be dedicated to personal practical advice to participants (at the piano) on specific pieces (whole, parts or passages), questions or problems.  The seminar will be of interest to professional pianists, teachers, students and advanced amateurs.

Evelyne Brancart will begin her seminar with a solo concert on Sunday, July 20th at 8:30pm.
