You must be over 18 to enroll in this workshop

  Howard Klug, director

Come to Bloomington and work with three international performers/teachers in a hands-on approach to clarinet performance in today’s world.  Through a combination of master classes, group lessons and private lessons, Howard Klug, Steve Cohen and Eric Mandat will work with you to identify your unique issues…and help you develop approaches towards solving them.

We will present you with improved methodology towards:

  • better/faster articulation
  • improved tone
  • adjusting your reeds
  • efficient practicing
  • better sight reading
  • taking auditions
  • better preparation and proper mind set
  • rounding out your skills for today’s musical environment
  • learning the first steps to improvisation (Randy Salman)
  • playing the whole clarinet family (Eb soprano and bass clarinet)

Workshop will end at 4:00 p.m. on June 3, 2008.

Registration: Registration will take place on May 30, 2008, 8:00 - 9:00 a.m. in Clouse's Lounge, Jacobs School of Music in between Merrill Hall and the Music Addition. See Map.

Application: Due to limitations of class size (20), admission will be based on a tape recording of two etudes (#10 & 13) from C. Rose 32 Etudes.  While the deadline for receipt of application materials is April 15, the class will fill on a first-come/first-served basis, so early submission of application materials is highly recommended.  All applicants will be notified about acceptance within a week of receipt of their application materials
