Choruspondent OnlineSummer 2009
From the Program Director: Before we move forward with details about next year, I wanted to write a huge thank you to Lisa Yozviak for her outstanding service to our organization. Under her leadership, the Chamber Choir performed at the 2009 IMEA Conference, and the Chamber and Allegro Choirs gave outstanding performances with both the Bloomington Chamber Singers and the IU Choral Department. In addition, she has provided excellent musical leadership throughout her three years as the conductor of the Chamber Choir. We wish her all the best in her new position as Director of Choral Activities for the College of Wooster! This year was one filled with special performance opportunities. Collectively, the 5 IUCC choruses participated in approximately 15 performances during the academic year. All groups performed exceptionally well, and I am so grateful to all singers for their hard work this year! Next year also looks to be an exciting one with our fall retreat returning to Bradford Woods, a fall performance at the Bloomington Farmer's Market, participation in the IU Opera Theater production of The Magic Flute, and our annual Winter and Spring Concerts. I hope that each of you will join us for the 2009-2010 season! I am thrilled that John Leonard, Katy Strand, and Maggie Olivo will return next season. They provide such excellent musical leadership, and I am so grateful to them for their work! Thanks also to Carla Aguilar, who has been a tremendous help as the IUCC Administrative Assistant and musicianship instructor. I am also grateful to our IUCC Board. Two of our board members, Sherry Barnhart and Hannah Buxbaum, will be stepping down after several years of service. I am so grateful to both Sherry and Hannah for their work on our board! We are always looking for new board members, so if you are able to serve IUCC in this capacity, please let me know (bgault@indiana.edu). Thank you again for your participation in IUCC! Have a wonderful summer with safe travels! I look forward to seeing you in the fall! 2009-2010 Placement Sessions
