FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
It is the goal of the Jacobs School of Music to extend financial aid to families who demonstrate a commitment to musical education for their children. The fees of the Pre-College Programs subsidized by Indiana University as a community outreach commitment. Because the demand for assistance is high and the Piano Academy’s financial aid resources are extremely limited, there are no full scholarships. Awards range from 10% or less of fees to a maximum—in rare instances—of 50% of total fees.
The Piano Academy offers two forms of financial assistance: need-based financial aid and merit-based financial aid. Qualifying students may apply for both types of assistance. Most financial aid awarded by the Piano Academy will be need-based. We are no longer accepting applications for need-based aid.

Students applying for merit-based aid should send an e-mail or hard copy letter to the director requesting financial assistance based on artistic merit. In the letter, indicate the reasons why you feel you are deserving of merit-based. Address the following points, among others:
• List any musical honors and/or special achievements during the period 2005-present. Include competition honors, but don't limit yourself to these. Tell us about anything significant you have accomplished in music.
• List all monetary awards - prizes, scholarships, grants - received from educational or musical organizations during the past 2 years. Mention who gave the award, what time period it covered, and the amount received.
• Have you received - or do you plan to apply for - any awards, scholarships or prizes from an organization, government or individual that are specifically for summer music study, either at the Piano Academy or elsewhere?
If so, list the source of the funding and the amount received or applied for. If a decision on your application for an award or stipend from an outside (non-Piano Academy) source of funding is still pending, please note that.
• Without a scholarship, can you still attend the Piano Academy? If not, please tell us why not.
• Anything else about your musical ambitions or family circumstances that you would like us to take into consideration?
