Summer Programs & Academies 2010

The Jacobs School of Music offers a wide variety of summer programs and academies for children and young adults. These are residential programs.

Ballet Summer Intensive

This course will give both ballet dancers and choreographers a chance to study with a world class faculty in professional ballet facilities, and to develop new ideas for choreography in both a studio setting and on stage. Both weeks are devoted to working on the development of the dancers’ ballet technique, while the second week is also devoted to choreographers’ vision and creative range of movement.

Dates: Session I, June 14-19, 2010; Session II, June 21-26, 2010.

College Audition Preparation

The development of an outstanding instrumental audition, taught daily by faculty recognized worldwide for their teaching and performing expertise.

Piano Academy

For over twenty years, the Indiana University Piano Academy has offered the serious young pianist a unique opportunity to work with outstanding teachers and internationally acclaimed guest artists in an intensive and varied program.

String Academy

For over twenty years the Indiana University String Academy has offered serious young string players an intensive and varied program under the direction of an outstanding faculty at one of the world's most renowned schools of music.

Summer Percussion Academy

This intensive 6-day Academy is offered to talented percussionists. Master classes, clinics, and performances will be presented by internationally-renowned performers. Sessions will include: audition techniques, chamber music, sight reading, orchestral timpani and percussion, marimba, drum set, accessories, world percussion, career development, and much more!

Summer Music Clinic

The Indiana University Summer Music Clinic regularly draws high school string, brass, woodwind and percussion students from throughout the United States and beyond. In addition to large ensemble experiences, students choose from activities that include music theory, conducting, chamber music, leadership and woodwind/brass pedagogy. Our goal is to provide performance experience and growth through participation in outstanding ensembles. Working with gifted and inspiring instructors in a dynamic musical atmosphere will enhance interest and enthusiasm for music in each participant.
