In some areas of the Jacobs School of Music, we offer Early Action (EA). EA gives the option of applying early and receiving an admission decision in January.

Prescreening:
The Early Action prescreening deadline is November 1, however, early submission is recommended. Pre-screening will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
- Contemporary Dance (prescreening required for both Early Action and Standard Admission)
- Guitar (prescreening required for both Early Action and Standard Admission)
- Jazz Bass (prescreening required for Early Action but not for Standard Admission)
- Jazz Piano (no prescreening required)
- Jazz Saxophone (prescreening is not required for Early Action, but is required for Standard Admission)
- Jazz Trombone (no prescreening required)
- Jazz Trumpet (prescreening required for Early Action but not for Standard Admission)
- Voice (prescreening required)
The following outlines the Early Action process:
- Apply to Indiana University by November 1 and have a complete application.
- Complete the JSOM Supplemental Application by November 1 (including pre-screening).
- Attend an in-person audition on November 13 or 14.
- For undergraduates, you must qualify for Early Action admission at Indiana University. IU Early Action decisions are released January 15.
- Applicants to graduate voice programs whose native language is not English must submit test results with a passing score on the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo by November 1.
- JSOM Early Action decisions are released January 22.

November 13: Guitar, Jazz, Undergraduate Voice, Contemporary Dance
November 14: Graduate Voice
No ad-hoc auditions are allowed for Early Action.
Music Business interviews are conducted online.
Decision
The Early Action admission decision is released January 22, 2027.
