Lauren Fadeley Veyette

Visiting Associate Professor (Ballet)

View full resolution

Lauren Fadeley Veyette is visiting associate professor of Ballet at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She trained in her hometown of Orlando before moving to NYC to study full time at the School of American Ballet. She began her professional career a year later, at 16 with the New York City Ballet. After 2 years with NYCB, she chose to further her education by attending Indiana University. In 2007, she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Ballet Performance and an Outside Field in Exercise Science. Ms. Fadeley then joined Pennsylvania Ballet, where she was promoted to Soloist in 2011 and Principal Dancer in 2012. Lauren later joined Miami City Ballet as a Soloist in 2016, and was promoted to Principal Soloist the following year.

During her career, she performed leading parts in a vast array of ballets. Some of her most notable roles include Odette/Odile, Waltz Girl in Serenade, Diamonds in Jewels, the Sugarplum Fairy and Giselle. She’s also performed works by some of ballet’s most noted choreographers, including  Ratmansky, Kylián, Forsythe and Peck, as well as originated featured roles in new works by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Nicolo Fonte, Matthew Neenan and Ratmansky, among others.

Lauren started her teaching career working with young dancers in creative movement while attending IU. Seeing the love of dance through her students’ eyes ignited a passion for teaching that continued to grow while she danced professionally.

She retired from Miami City Ballet in 2021 after accepting the position of Daytime Principal of the Kansas City Ballet School. While at KCB she also served as a children’s Rehearsal Director for company productions involving the school, including works by Devon Carney and Septime Webre. She became the Head of School at Indianapolis Ballet in January 2025, bringing her love of dance and many years of experience to the Indianapolis School of Ballet. Lauren is beyond thrilled to return to IU in this capacity and give back to the institution which propelled her extensive career.
