***Please note: All registrations must be completed online; there is no paper format of this application.

Audition Materials

Applicants should submit the following:

  • One audio (CD or mp3 file) or video (DVD or YouTube link) recording of two contrasting works, one Baroque and another composed after 1750 in a contrasting style. Memorization is not required for the audition or in any Academy activities.

  • One letter of recommendation from the primary organ instructor that attests to the applicant’s general level of ability and accomplishment.

  • List of organ repertoire (citing composer, complete title, and edition/publisher), noting which pieces are performance ready and those still in progress.Please include any organ technique books you own and indicate the repertoire you wish to study and perform at the Academy.

Course check-in will take place on Monday, July 24 from 8:00-8:30 am in front of the second floor entrance of Auer Hall in Simon Music Building followed by the orientation meeting 8:30 am in Auer Hall. See Map.

In the event that the course is oversubscribed, waitlisted applicants will be notified if a space becomes available; however, being on the waitlist does not guarantee a space in the program.

Tuition will be refunded minus a $100 cancellation charge to participants if withdraw prior to 30 days from start of workshop. No refunds after June 24.  Refunds do not include non-refundable application fee.

Please Note:
  • The application fee of $70.00 is non-refundable and not part of tuition.
  • Only full payment will secure your position.
  • No scholarships or financial aid awards are available for this program.
  • Late applications will be accepted on the basis of available space.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • Can I apply if I am not an organ major but have studied organ in university as a minor or secondary student?
    Yes, we will consider applicants with a strong keyboard (piano) background who have undertaken some formal organ study at the post-secondary level.
  • Can I request a teacher?
    Upon notification of acceptance attendees will be asked to refine choices for courses. At that time one can also request a teacher with the understanding that, while we will try to accommodate all such requests, we cannot guarantee it.

The Jacobs School of Music reserves the right to cancel a workshop if enrollment is not met. Participants will be informed 2 weeks before the start of the workshop and receive a full refund.
