Information for All Applicants
  • Maximum of 40 participants (determined by recorded audition); unlimited number of auditors (no audition required).

  • This program does not offer scholarships. Only full payment will secure your position (a limited amount of merit-based scholarship aid is available for exceptionally promising applicants).

  • On-campus housing is available. See "Visiting" in the left menu for accommodation information.

  • Late applications will be accepted on the basis of available space.

  • There is a $200.00 cancellation fee for refunded tuition (this includes the $70 non-refundable registration fee).

  • Anyone under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.

Pre-registration fee: $70
Participant tuition: $1800

Auditor Tuition: $700
Online Auditor with two online lessons: $700 (Online lessons can be arranged after the workshop dates)
Online Auditor for Music Educators (please provide proof of educator status): $300
Daily Pass for Auditor: $100

On-Campus housing (optional): $50/night (single occupancy-does not include meals or linens)*
*Any nights stayed in Willkie not indicated and paid for on the online registration will be charged directly to the participant (at the time of their stay) with a 12% additional tax.

Off-Campus housing is also available, but must be arranged by the participant.

Application deadline: May 1, 2020 for Participants, July 1, 2020 for Auditors

Those wishing to compete in the Concerto Competition must send a recording for pre-screening, along with their application, by May 15, 2020.

Fees due: July 1

Applications for merit awards will be considered if submitted by April 29, 2019.

Audition Requirements

No audition is required for Auditor applicants. Participant applicants must send a 15 minute recording (CD or DVD) of any repertoire. We are not responsible for late, damaged, or unreadable materials. Mail materials only (no checks please, see your registration invoice for information on where to send a check) to:

  • All Recordings must be RECEIVED by the application deadline of May 15.
  • Upon receipt of the audition CD/DVD and online pre-registration fee, participant applicants will be notified within 2 weeks whether they have been chosen as a participant or auditor.

Participants intending to enter the Chamber Music Competition and Solo Competition should submit their concerto choice in their application.


Refund and Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made in writing to the Director, cc' the Office of Special Programs, and are subject to the following deadlines and fees;

-Cancellations prior to 5 days before arrival incur a $200 cancellation penalty (this includes the $70 non-refundable registration fee plus processing fees). Any remaining fees paid (minus the $200 cancellation charge) will be refunded.

-Cancellations less than 5 days prior to arrival will not receive a refund except in the case of a documented emergency.

-No refunds will be offered for dismissal due to violation of Edward Auer Piano Workshop, Indiana University, state, or federal rules, early departure due to homesickness; voluntary withdrawal or temporary absence.

When circumstances necessitating withdrawal are beyond the student’s control (e.g., serious illness, or death in the student’s family), exceptions to the above policy may be made on the recommendation of the Directors.

The Jacobs School of Music reserves the right to cancel a workshop if enrollment is not met.  Participants will be informed 2 weeks before the start of the workshop and receive a full refund.
