Fees (2018, 2020 TBA)

Application fee: $70.00

Participant Tuition: $425

Parking Pass: $20 per week for those NOT staying in dormitory housing.

On-Campus Housing in Willkie Residence center: $50 per night (Willkie Residence Center rooms are single suites with sharing bathrooms. Basic linens are included. Meals are NOT included.) *Please be advised that dormitory lodging, while safe, convenient and inexpensive, is very basic accomodation. Those wishing for lodging at a higher level of comfort are advised to investigate one of Bloomington's many hotel options.

Bring anything you want to perform! A C Major scale 1 octave ascending is enough for the 4 days. Beyond that, here are some ideas:


  • An exposition (or something of similar length) of a solo work
  • 3 orchestral/band excerpts


  • 2-3 Orchestral Excerpts (if applicable)
  • 5 three minute excerpts from solos, chamber works, or etudes


Please offer four arias in contrasting styles and languages, including:

  • one aria in Italian
  • one aria by Mozart, Handel, or Rossini
  • one aria in English.

Check-In (2018)

Check-in for the Fearless Performance program will take place on Wednesday, June 13th from 11-11:30am in Clouse's Lounge. Clouse's Lounge is located on the first floor between Merrill Hall and the Music Building Addition. See map.

Important Details
  • No audition is necessary for entry into the seminar.
  • Participants must be 18 or older
  • The non-refundable $70.00 application fee is a separate charge and not part of tuition.
  • For off-campus housing options, click on "Visiting" in the left menu.
  • There is a $200.00 cancellation fee for refunded tuition (this includes the $70 non-refundable registration fee).
  • Tuition includes locker rental.

The Jacobs School of Music reserves the right to cancel a workshop if enrollment is not met.  Participants will be informed 2 weeks before the start of the workshop and receive a full refund.
